May 15, 2026
Tulsa Union senior Amaya Harrison is one of Oklahoma's best hurdlers. Follow her journey as she chases a state championship in her final high school season.
Amaya Harrison, a senior track star at Tulsa Union High School, has established herself as one of the premier hurdlers in Oklahoma and among the strongest in the nation. Competing in both the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles, Amaya brings a rare dual-threat capability that sets her apart from her competitors. While many schools have different athletes excelling in each event, Amaya dominates both distances with distinct approaches and mindsets. Over the past two seasons, she has earned podium finishes in both events at the state track meet, placing as runner-up or third. Now in her senior year, Amaya is determined to capture the top spot and help lead her team to a state championship. Her commitment extends beyond her signature events as she recently began high jumping to contribute additional points toward the team goal. Despite her early reluctance when first introduced to hurdling, Amaya has proven herself exceptional. Her coach believes her potential is limitless, predicting that continued development in college will reveal even greater achievements. With her coachable attitude, competitive drive, and natural talent, Amaya Harrison represents the future of women's track and field.
